Back in March 2010, I was a little over two months away from my due date and life was stressful. Nothing seemed to be going right and my hormones were all out of whack. In order to combat the stress and keep myself mentally sane and healthy, I started my Happy Project. Every day for 31 days, I posted a picture of something that made me happy. I posted pictures of my dog, baby clothes, my husband, my back yard, body lotion, mugs of tea, flowers, my belly, my reading chair, everything big and small that made me smile each day.
And it helped.
It helped me deal with the stress. It helped keep my brain calm. It made my heart happy.
And you guys liked it, too. I received so many notes of encouragement and letters saying how my project helped YOU stay happy, too. And when it ended, I received many notes saying you were sad it was over.
Lately, it seems like there’s a LOT of negativity going around the internet. People are getting put down for all kinds of reasons from breastfeeding to gender to sexual preference to schooling to parenting style to just plain bullying and it’s getting out of hand. I come across a handful of bullying examples every single day and it makes me very sad.
If there was ever a time for a Happy Project.
Well, I’m happy to say that it’s back and YOU get to participate this time.
Every Monday, I will post my happy picture on the blog along with a McLinky.
YOU post a happy picture or video on your Blog, Twitter, Flickr, Picasa, YFrog, what-have-you and come HERE and give us the link so we can all share in happy pictures. If you do use a site like Flickr or Picasa (or even Facebook), make sure your picture is set to public so we can all see it! And remember, link to your entry, NOT your entire blog.
Write a small blurb or caption about WHY this picture makes you happy.
You can take a picture of anything (I took a picture of body lotion, seriously), but it must be your picture. No searching Google Images for pics and submitting that. It must be something you take with your camera or phone. In fact, I will even accept hand-drawn art as well.
(that will make someone happy…)
We have a button! Take it and put it on your site, please! Spread the word! I want to get as many happy pictures as I can in one place.
